Heatwave sweeps northwest India, temperature rises above 40 degree celsius

Heat-wave conditions are likely to prevail in some parts of Rajasthan, in isolated pockets over south Haryana, Delhi, south Uttar Pradesh during April 3-7, over Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Gujarat during April 3-5, over Himachal Pradesh from April 3-4, and Jammu division on April 3, as per IANS reported.

On Sunday, various districts of Rajasthan, Haryana, and even Himachal Pradesh experienced heat waves to severe heat waves, with temperatures reaching above 40 degrees Celsius in some places.

The warmest spot was Akola, Maharashtra, with a high temperature of 44 degrees Celsius, followed by Barmer, Rajasthan, with 43.5 degrees C, IANS reported.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi too had a hot day on Sunday, with the Najafgarh monitoring station recording a maximum temperature of 41.7 degrees Celsius.

On April 3-4, isolated severe heatwaves are also possible in west Rajasthan, IANS mentioned.

Due to the effect of strong southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to northeastern states at lower tropospheric levels, the IMD forecast widespread to widespread rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during the next three days.
