The police have booked the directors of real estate firm HDIL and Guru Ashish Construction Company on the charge of cheating 465 home seekers and tenants. The case has been transferred to the Economic Offence Wing of the Mumbai police.
Accused Sarang Wadhawan, Rakesh Wadhawan and other directors of HDIL and Guruashish Construction have been accused of not constructing any building after acquiring the Patra Chawl in Goregaon for redevelopment.
"I have not received anything from the police yet and have no information about it. I will check it," Sunny Wadhawan, one of the directors of HIDL, told DNA.
According to the police, the accused started a housing project called 'The Meadows' in Goregaon (W) in June 2010. The police said they took the booking amount from homebuyers and promised to deliver the flats. However, they allegedly failed to give the possession of the flats. The tenants of the chawl were also allegedly denied rent for their accommodation.
