India Post under the Department of Posts has been the backbone of the country’s communication and has played a crucial role in the country’s social economic development.
India has the largest Postal Network in the world with 154,965 Post Offices (as on 31.03.2017) of which 139,067 are in the rural areas, according to India Post's official website.
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was launched by the Centre to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence. The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag.
