Gully Boy box office collection day 1: Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy has got off to a brilliant start at the box office amid rave reviews. The film had opened to 30 to 40 per cent opening in the morning shows and picked up in a major way during the evening especially after the word of mouth spread. The afternoon shows witnessed 65 percent to 70 per cent occupancy in metro cities, tweeted film trade analyst and critic Sumit Kadel. "#GullyBoy is registering PHENOMENAL occupancy of 65-70% in noon shows at metros . BUMPER opening," he tweeted. The film has earned whopping Rs 18.70 crore on day 1. India biz," Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The numbers are likely to pick up due to an extended weekend and almost no competition at the box office. In another tweet Kadel said that the film is expected to do well at multiplexes of major cities. "#GullyBoy is made for the targeted audience & that is youth. Its a typical Zoya Akhtar film which works quite well at Multiplexes of Major cities. It would be interesting to see how the film works with family audience & B tier centers," he tweeted.
