Govt mulling taking on Ola, Uber with its own app-based cab service
Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari, on Monday, dismissed the plan of allowing driver-less cars on Indian roads citing employment generation.
With the rising competition between Ola and Uber, Indian government is planning to launch its own service by launching an app-based cab service, Sameer Dixit of Zee Business reported quoting sources.
Sources, however, said that the idea of is still at initial stages but the government is serious on the issue.
Moreover, as per the source, the main idea to introduce this government-owned cab platform is to generate more employment in the country.

In a country where Ola and Uber are generating thousands of jobs, introducing driver-less cars will lead to increase in unemployment, he had said.
"The government is in an opinion that at current stage India is not ready for driver-less cars as it is against the employment generation", Gadkari had said.
