Soon you will be able to access 300 new services through UMANG app, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 23, 2017, as the government is planning to add more applications to its all-purpose mobile app by March 2019. At present, Ministry of electronics and information technology is working on these new services for departments related to Centre as well various state governments.

The new services will include telecom regulator TRAI's DND app feature to prevent unwanted calls and messages. You will not need to download the DND app separately if you have UMANG app in your mobile. Other services that will be added include DND and My speed, services related to ESIC, lost and found services of the ministry of women and child development, e-Pashu haats for farmers, national digital library and services related to states like Delhi, Manipur, Chhattishpur and Nagaland among others. 

At present, 227 services are live on UMANG, and the government aims to provide a total of 1200 services through this app. At the time of launch, the app had 163 services from different states and central government departments. 

If anyone fails to get a birth and death certificates within a stipulated timeframe in Delhi, he can get the delayed birth and death certificates through UMANG. Apart from this, domicile and income certificate can be acquired through it.

In case of Manipur, residents of the state will be able to get different certificates like a permanent residence, SC/ST and OBC. Nagaland residents will also be able to get ther birth as well as backward tribes certificates among others through the app. 

"We want to provide 500 services on UMANG within a year. Currently, there are 227 services and we want to add 300 more services to it. The new services will provide facilities like TRAI's DND, my speed app service, loss and found services of children, national digital library and animal hatts among others", says Ajay Prakash Sawhney, IT Secretary. 

In addition, UMANG is enabling a person to pay bills like electricity, water, DTH, gas and mobile. At present, more than 50 Discoms are available on the app's Bharat Bill Payment system and the government is trying to add all Discoms of the country to the platform. 

UMANG app will enable a person to apply for various other kinds of services also, whether it is related to a central or state government departments. It will also allow you to register your complaints related to problems with respect to various services. You can also get information and solution of the same just by calling at the call centre of UMANG. 

"We have a toll-free call centre, where a person can register his complaints. UMANG will try to solve the problems that can be solved here otherwise the complaint will be forwarded to the concerned department", says Ajay Prakash Sawhney, IT Secretary. 

Services related to 55 central departments and different departments related to 11 states are available in the app, operated by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) of the Electronics and IT Ministry.

The app is currently available in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada, Odia, Punjabi, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telegu, and Urdu. The 227 services being provided through the app include the services related to Employees Provident Fund Organisation, the Central Board of Secondary Education, Bharat Bill Pay, MKisaan for farmers, AICTE for students, services associated with crop insurance and sophisticated health card and weather information among others.
