Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked his officers to fill these vacant posts in the different departments of the state government by next month. While reviewing the ongoing recruitment exercise on Monday, the Chief Minister said that he would regularly monitor the process of recruitment followed by the officers to fill up the vacancies. According to the report, Patnaik also initiated a special drive to employ officials in the vacant posts reserved for Schedule Tribe (ST) and Schedule Caste (SC) communities in the next six months. Notably, state elections are in offing soon and this time the ruling Biju Janata Dal is set to face a stiff challenge from the Bharatiya Janata party.
62,500 positions in various government departments has been filled up in the last four years, which has been revealed during the review meeting. The recruitment examinations had been conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission regularly since 2015.
Patnaik started this performance review meeting on Tuesday in the presence of other ministers and officials of different departments. As per TOI report, this review meeting is based on fulfillment of the promises made by the ruling party in its election manifesto during 2014 general and assembly elections.

On the other hand, while commenting on the review meeting, the opposition parties called it as a media blitz. The CM also praised his ministers for good work. This meeting will continue till May 17.
CM Naveen Patnaik reviewed the performance of schools, mass education, Health and Family Welfare departments, ST&SC development, minorities and backward classes welfare on the first day of meeting.
