A budget of Rs 3,897 crore has been allocated for the financial year 2018-19 which is 78 per cent higher than the last year’ s budget which was 2,174 crore, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) announced in its 63rd board meeting held on Monday. The authority aims to generate Rs 2,809 crore as targeted total revenue. The authority stated that they have proposed a farmer-friendly budget in which it has decided to clear the long-pending compensation issues of farmers which amounts to as much as Rs 1,400 crore. This will be given to farmers whose lands have been acquired for various development-related works by the authority.

“Last year the authority dispersed Rs 872 crore among the farmers which has now been increased significantly,” said Prabhat Kumar, Chairman, YEIDA. This year, the authority will spend Rs 1,200 crore on the development works. Of the Rs 1,200 crore, Rs 100 crore has been allotted for villages and a private agency will also be hired to carry out developmental works there and also to make sure that unlike last year, the funds allocated to villages don’t remain unused.

As many as 80 cleaning staff will also be appointed for the villages and each village will have one staff and one supervisor will monitor the sanitation work in every 10 villages. “For ensuring the direct connectivity between Jewar and Delhi airport, a feasibility report will also be prepared. Some of the builders had syphoned off the money and used it in other projects. Action will be taken against such builders and their lands will be sold out and the money that will be raised from it will be invested in development works in the same area by involving a co-developer,” said Kumar.

In the institutional land allotment scheme, some errant officers of the authority had allotted land on lower rates. YEIDA has now calculated the actual rate of the land to be Rs 1,041 per square meter. YEIDA now plans to recover the balance amount from allottees after including the interest. This decision may put a number of prominent intuitions of the city into trouble. FIRs will also be registered against those officers those who were involved in this case.

To increase safety measures on the Yamuna Expressway, a hike in toll tax rates will also put into effect. The hike will be of Re 5 to 15 paisa per kilometre and the new rates will be applicable from June 1.
