GATE 2020: The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) has extended the registration date for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020 application process to September 28, 2019. Those candidates who have so far failed to complete the process must register for the GATE 2020 examination on IIT Delhi's official website-- iitd.ac.in, or at appsgate.iitd.ac.in or at gate.iitd.ac.in. Notably, the online registration process for GATE 2020 exam without the late fee payment was fixed till September 24, 2019, but now the last date to submit the GATE 2020 application form with late fee is October 1, 2019.

The decision to extend the GATE 2020 application deadline was taken as the IIT Delhi's official website crashed due to heavy traffic. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi will be conducting the GATE 2020 exams on February 1, 2, 8 and 9. Notably, the registration process for the same had begun on September 3, 2019.

Interested candidates should follow the steps given below to register for GATE 2020:

1. First go to the official website- gate.iitd.ac.in
2. Students should click on 'GATE Online Application Portal is live. Click here to Apply'
3. On the new page, students should click on the ‘register here’ link given at the end
4. Fill in your details to register, and log in with enrollment ID/ email and password
5. Students should fill in online application form and note down their Registration /Application Number
6. Upload your scanned copies of latest photograph and signatures
7. Finally, pay the application fee to complete the registration process

GATE 2020: Application fee  

Candidates belonging to general category are required to pay Rs 1,500 for the GATE 2020 application form, while reserved category students will have to pay Rs 750. After September 28, the application fee for general category applicants be Rs 2,000, while reserved category candidates need to to pay Rs 1,250.

GATE 2020 will be conducted for 25 subjects (“papers”) at GATE examination centres in different cities spread across India as well as in six cities outside the country. The examination will be in the form of a Computer Based Test (CBT), and the results will be declared on March 16, 2020.

Notably, the GATE score is valid for three years from the date on which the results are announced.
