G20 Summit 2023: In order to ensure smooth and efficient traffic flow during the G20 Summit in the national capital, the Delhi Police has collaborated with Mappls MapmyIndia, for providing real-time traffic reports, route closures, traffic diversions, and alternate routes via official Delhi Police advisories. The aim of this measure is to cause the least amount of disruption to the residents of Delhi and the national capital region (NCR). The company announced this collaboration in an X (formerly known as Twitter) post.
The G20 Summit will take place on September 9 and 10 in the newly-built Bharat Mandapam convention centre at Delhi's Pragati Maidan. There will be a major increase in security and traffic management in the preparations for the arrival of the diplomats, resulting in increased traffic congestion in and around the surrounding areas.
As per the official press release, as a result of the collaboration, users would gain the following benefits:
Real-time Traffic Updates: Up-to-date traffic conditions caused by VIP movements, routes, and other unanticipated circumstances
Route Closures and Traffic Diversions: Up-to-date information regarding route closures and traffic diversions
Alternate Routes: In the event that a route is closed due to traffic, alternate routes for the journey can also be found
Junction View: The 3D photorealistic depictions of all flyovers, turns, underpasses, and junctions on the app will help users and ensure they do not miss any turns
Safety Alerts: Essential safety notifications such as oncoming speed breakers, potholes, fallen trees, and dangerous curves will all be notified to the users
Speeding Alerts: The user's vehicle speed as well as the speed limit of each route will be displayed on the app, helping the user avoid unnecessary speeding fines.
The company also claims that the user will only receive official advisories and critical information, allowing them to easily navigate in and around the city.
Under India's Presidency, several Heads of State, top officials from the European Union, guest countries, and heads of international organisations have been invited.
