In a bid to facilitate hassle free travel for people across the country, Union Railway minister Piyush Goyal and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met last week to give a go ahead to the National Mobility Card, wherein travellers will enjoy integrated ticketing system on all sorts of transport systems besides having the advantage of using it as debit or credit card.

Notably, the so-called National Mobility Card (NBC) will allow its holder smooth travel on local trains, buses, metro and monorail not just in the city and its metropolitan region, but also across the country. The card will also act as debit or credit card, informed a DNA report  .

Following the meeting between Goyal and Fadnavis, officials from Indian Railways and state government are reportedly finalising plans to allow people to store money and even to link it with their bank accounts using a single card.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is reportedly the nodal agency to develop it, while the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation is coordinating for the Indian Railways.
