During the Parliament session on Friday, the Union Health Ministry informed that at least four COVID-19 vaccines are under trials in the country for those who are less than 18 years.

According to the Ministry, Bharat Biotech is conducting Phase II/III clinical trials of COVAXIN and Healthy Volunteers aged 2 to 18 years and the firm has submitted interim safety & immunogenicity data to the National Regulator.

Serum Institute of India is conducting Phase II/III clinical trial of Nanoparticle Vaccine (Liquid) (COVOVAX) in 920 subjects of >2 to 17 years age group. Biological E Limited, is conducting a Phase II/III clinical trial of RBD of SARS-CoV-2 gene in 624 subjects of =5 to <18years age group.

Also, Johnson & Johnson Private Limited, is conducting a Phase II/III clinical trial of Ad.26COV.2S vaccine in the age group of 12-17 years (Global Clinical trial wherein India is one of the clinical trial site).

Meanwhile, India recorded 9,216 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, as per the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

On Thursday, two cases of Omicron variant were detected through INSACOG in Karnataka, the government informed. The government also informed that 373 cases of Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 detected in 29 nations so far and India is monitoring it, as per PTI.

There have been 8,612 recoveries in the last 24 hours increasing the total recoveries to 3,40,45,666. India's active caseload stands at 99,976. The active cases account for less than 1 per cent of the total cases.

On the vaccination frontier, the country has administered 125.75 crore vaccine doses so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive. The recovery rate currently stands at 98.35 per cent, which is the highest since March 2020.
