The PM Narendra Modi government is trying to attract best talent from the public and private sectors to bring greater efficiency in the administration. The government has issued a notification to fill up the joint secretary posts in various departments. There are 10 government jobs open for recruitment.  These appointments will be through the government's lateral entry scheme. Candidates with 15 years of work experience in the public or private sector can apply for these positions. People from the private sector who are willing to contribute towards the nation building can apply for these positions, according to a notification by the central government.  Significantly, these can be from private sector companies, multinational companies, state government employees, even universities. 
The selected persons for the positions will be given all the benefits given to the permanent government employees.  On appointment at the joint secretary-level jobs, candidates will get Rs 1.44 lakh to Rs 2.18 lakh per month salary and will also get allowances and facilities.
Age limit: 
The applicant must be of 40 years of age as on July 1.
Educational qualification: The candidates have be a graduate from any recognised university or institute. Candidates with Higher qualifications will be given preference.
These positions are on contract basis for a period of three years and the contract can be extended to up to five years.
