FM to hold Capex review meet with PSUs belonging to Coal, Steel, Civil Aviation and Telecom today

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold a CAPEX review meeting via video conferencing with the secretaries of the ministries of coal, steel, civil aviation and telecom along with the CMDs of the PSUs belonging to these ministries, a top government source confirmed to Zee Business. The review meeting will be carried out jointly by Department of Economic Affairs and Department of Public Enterprises

"FM will hold a CAPEX review meeting with the CPSEs belonging to coal, steel, civil aviation and telecom. It will be held through video conferencing at 11:00 AM today," the source cited above, who didn't wish to be quoted, told Zee Business.
The finance minister will review the CAPEX targets achieved by the PSUs under ministries mentioned above. She will also take stock of the manner in which the capital allocated to these PSUs is being spent. The PSUs will also apprise the minister about the key challenges they are facing in meeting the targets and other major issues, according to sources.
The government has been holding a series of CAPEX review meeting to boost economic growth which got severely impacted due to lockdown and Covid19 pandemic. Sitharaman while unveiling the Union Budget 2021 had announced raising capital expenditure massively to Rs 5.54 lakh crore from the revised estimate of Rs 4.39 lakh crore in the current financial year. The Budget estimate of capital expenditure for FY2020-21 was Rs 4.12 lakh crore.
