The draft model of the proposed Sabarmati Station, the terminating station of the Indian Railways Bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, is ready and it will have a big touch-up of Mahatma Gandhi's famous Dandi March.  The premises of the station have been  adorned with theme of the famous Dandi March by Mahatma Gandhi in Gujarat in 1931.  This is the first station whose design has been finalised by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd so far and the cost of building this station is estimated to be Rs 250 crore. As far as travelling from Sabarmati Station to Mumbai on the bullet train is concerned, the cost to passengers will be a sum of Rs 3,000, Achal Khare, managing director of NHSRCL, said.

The bullet train railway station area will have a parking facility that can accommodate nearly 1,500 vehicles. In the three-level parking, one level will be for cars, another will be for bus and the third will be for autos. Khare said passengers from two metro stations and stations on the Indian Railway network can arrive at Sabarmati passenger terminal. Passengers will be able to enter Sabarmati Station through a foot over-bridge. "It will be a state-of-art complex with Dandi March being the theme of the edifice," PTI quoted Khare as saying. Construction of project is expected to start from December this year.

The bullet train will run at a top speed of 320 kmph on a journey that is nearly 508 km between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. It will make 70 trips per day between Mumbai and Ahmedabad at an interval of 20 minutes and each rake will have 10 coaches. The line will have 12 stations -- four in Maharashtra and eight in Gujarat. The deadline for the Indian Railways bullet train project is August 15, 2022. The train will be made fully operational by 2023.
