As these candidates already go through the strict screening process, the government and other organisations may consider them for jobs, the central recruiting body recommended. It said that this will help reduce examination stress for the UPSC civil service aspirants.

UPSC is also taking steps to make the civil services examination process more candidate-friendly and the candidates will soon get an option to withdraw their application forms voluntarily, UPSC Chairman Arvind Saxena was quoted saying in the report.

Saxena said steps are being taken to make UPSC examination process more candidate-friendly. The candidates applying for the upcoming Civil Services examinations will soon get an option to withdraw their application forms voluntarily,  Arvind Saxena, UPSC Chairman, was quoted as saying.

He said that the objective of this move is to make candidates conscious that if they are not well prepared they should not make civil services exam attempt.  The UPSC is increasingly shifting towards computer-based tests and doing away with paper and pencil-based exams.

Every year, nearly 11 lakh youngsters apply for civil services. Half of them appear for the preliminaries and eventually, only 600 candidates are picked up. The UPSC recommendations, if implemented, are expected to benefit a large number of candidates who take the exam every year and will also have better job prospects for them.
