Fact Check: Is Modi government offering free laptops to students? Here is truth
Fact Check: The fact check wing of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has tweeted that there is no such scheme being run by the government.
Fact Check: A text message is being circulated on social media platforms with claims that the Ministry of Education is providing free laptops to students under the Free Laptop Scheme 2022. The message asks people to check their eligibility by clicking on the link available in the message.
"The Ministry of Education has a distribution schedule for laptops to be given out to families to help support virtual learning this fall. To check eligibility visit..." reads the message.
However, the fact check wing of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has now tweeted that there is no such scheme being run by the government.
"A text message with a website link is circulating on social media which claims that @EduMinOfIndia is offering 500,000 free laptops to all students...#PIBFactCheck...The circulated link is #Fake...The government is not running any such scheme," the message reads.
