PIB Fact Check: Amid rising cases of lottery scams, the government has alerted citizens to crosscheck before investing in schemes promising lucrative returns. The Press Information of Bureau (PIB) through its Twitter handle has warned that several schemes are being circulated on the internet in the name of the government to give an impression that these are authentic.
It said that the public should not fall prey to fraudsters asking them to invest in such lottery schemes. People should not heed to such calls, messages and emails, the PIB has warned.
“Have you also received lottery-related suspicious message, email or call?” the PIB Tweeted. "Beware of such fake lottery messages, calls and emails. These are financial fraud attempts by thugs," it added.
