Essential services to remain uninterrupted during G20 Summit, limited restrictions in NDMC Area: Delhi Police

The anticipation surrounding the upcoming G20 Summit has left many concerned about access to essential services during the event. For those still seeking clarity on this matter, the Delhi Police has provided reassuring information.
On Tuesday, the Delhi Police confirmed that the entire city will remain accessible throughout the G20 Summit, with the exception of a portion of the area under the jurisdiction of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
In various posts on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), the police clarified that crucial services, such as milk booths and hospitals, will continue to operate in the New Delhi region.
"The entirety of Delhi remains open. Only a small section of the NDMC area will have restrictions... It is important to reiterate that restrictions are exclusively imposed in a limited portion of the NDMC area. Please disregard any rumors," emphasized the Delhi Police.

The G20 Summit is slated to take place from September 9th to 10th at the newly constructed international convention and exhibition center, Bharat Mandapam, located in Pragati Maidan.
In another statement, the police informed the public that although commercial activities will be temporarily suspended from September 8th to 10th, all essential services, including milk booths, pharmacies, hospitals, and other services categorized as essential, will remain fully operational in the New Delhi area.
However, it's worth noting that during the G20 Summit, all online delivery services, except those for medicines, will be temporarily suspended in the New Delhi district, as previously announced by the Delhi Police on Monday.
"Essential services such as postal and medical services, as well as sample collections by path labs, will be permitted throughout Delhi. Commercial activities in the New Delhi area will be restricted. Online delivery services will be suspended, except for medicine deliveries," stated Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SS Yadav on Monday.
The Delhi Police further added that valid permissions granted for essential services will be duly honored during this period, ensuring that residents have access to the vital resources they need.
The G20 Summit is expected bring together leaders from 19 nations along with representation from the European Union.
The primary agenda of the G20 Summit will revolve around discussions on shared concerns, including trade and climate change.
