Equity indices open in green; Sensex gains over 200 points
Key Indian equity indices opened on a positive note on Friday with the benchmark S&P BSE Sensex gaining over 200 points, supported by broadly positive cues from the global markets.

With Nifty surging past 11,400 and Sensex around 190 points, the Friday stock markets had a good start. Sensex is up 193.54 points or 0.51% at 37857.10, while the Nifty rose 52.80 points or 0.46% at 11437.80.
Banks, metals, infra, auto and energy indices are some of the sectors which are trading in green. The Nifty Midcap index is also up over half a percent. 415 shares advanced, while 104 shares declined and 38 shares remained unchanged.
While Bharti Airtel, Wipro, and HDFC have lost the most, Shares of Vedanta, Tata Motors, and Hindalco are the top gainers.

According to market observers, healthy buying activity was witnessed in banking, auto, and metal stocks.
So far, it has touched an intra-day high of 37,926.47 points and a low of 37,840.16 points.
