ED officer assaulted in New Delhi during money laundering investigation against organised cyber crimes
The ED HIU today conducted simultaneous searches on multiple locations. During the searches, incriminating material has been seized.
During a search operation at Brijwasan, New Delhi, today (Thursday, November 28, 2024), suspect CA Ashok Sharma and his brother assaulted an Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer. The accused managed to escape after assaulting the officer.
After the incident, a first information report (FIR) has been filed, and the searches are on to find the suspect.

During the searches, incriminating material has been seized.
Thousands of cyber crimes (phishing, QR code, part time job scam, call centre) reported to it were analysed by the ED with the help of FIU-IND.
It was found that an organised network of CAs and crypto traders was at work.
Around 15,000 mule accounts were used to layer proceeds of cyber crimes.
Then debit/credit cards were obtained and used to top up virtual accounts on Pyypl.
