An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 hit the Union Territory of Ladakh late night on Monday, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

The epicentre of the earthquake was located at Latitude 35.77 N and Longitude 76.98 E, at a depth of 178 kilometres, the NCS stated.

"EQ of M: 4.2, On: 03/06/2024 22:16:05 IST, Lat: 35.77 N, Long: 76.98 E, Depth: 178 Km, Location: Leh, Ladakh," the NCS said in a post on 'X'.

No casualties have been reported so far. No damages have been detected as of now.
