An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 struck Meghalaya on Wednesday (May 29) evening.

In a post on X, India's National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 110 km. The epicentre was Myanmar and recorded at 5.6 magnitude.

On Tuesday, May 29, an earthquake of magnitude 3.1 on the Richter Scale jolted Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, said the NCS. The earthquake occurred at 6:43 AM.

Before that, a 4.5 magnitude earthquake hit Maldives on Monday (May 27) evening.
