Delhi-NCR Earthquake; Earthquake Today: Earthquake tremors jolted the national capital and adjacent areas on Thursday evening. As per National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring earthquake activity in the country, the quake measuring 5.9 on the Richter Scale had its epicentre in Afghanistan.

NCS tweeted that the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter Scale hit 79km South of Fayzabad, Afghanistan at 7:55 pm today.

Futher details regarding the local intensity and effects in Delhi-NCR are yet ot be ascertained.

Delhi Earthquake: Second quake in quick succession

This is the second earthquake to jolt the capital in quick succession. Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 on the Richter scale hit Delhi-NCR in the early hours of Sunday (New Year night), according to National Center for Seismology (NCS).

That earthquake, with its epicentre in the Northwest of Haryana's Jhajjar, had struck at 1:19 am on Sunday. NCS had informed: "Earthquake of Magnitude: 3.8, Occurred on 01-01-2023, 01:19:42 IST, Lat: 28.71 and Long: 76.62, Depth: 5 Km, Location: 12km NNW of Jhajjar, Haryana."

Meanwhile, several users took to social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook after the earthquake tremors were felt in the national capital.
