Earthquake in India today: Quake in Gujarat rocked the Kutch-Bhachau-Anjar region, spreading panic among people, making them rush out in to the open. The earthquake was measured at 4.3 magnitude on the Richter scale. While the Earthquake epicentre was some 23 km from Bhachau, which falls in Kutch district and it happened just after 7 pm.

Fortunately, till now, there were no reports of any one injured from the earthquake. There were no reports of damage to property either. 

Notably, way back in 2001, Bhuj in Kutch district had suffered one of the worst earthquakes on record with a huge death toll counted in the thousands. It occurred just before 9 am and was measured at 7.7 on the Richter scale.

According to an official of the Gandhinagar-based Institute of Seismological Research (ISR), the epicentre of the earthquake was 23 kilometre NNE (north-north-east) of Bhachau in Kutch district. This comes hours after another mild quake in the same district, around 340km from Ahmedabad.

Kutch district had experienced a devastating earthquake in January 2001, killing thousands of people and destroying lakhs of homes.
