e-Sanjeevani reaches new milestone, tele-consultations cross 14 crore mark
The government's e-Sanjeevani drive is aimed at facilitating quick and easy access to doctors and medical specialists in the country.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Thursday that teleconsultations under the government's e-Sanjeevani pan-India telemedicine service have crossed the 14 crore mark. The government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is working for the benefit of each and every individual, the Union Minister said in a post on the microblogging website Twitter, sharing details of state-wise tele-consultations.

The government's e-Sanjeevani drive is aimed at facilitating quick and easy access to doctors and medical specialists in the country. The service enables the public to access quality health services remotely through smartphones. The national telemedicine service supports two types of teleconsultations: doctor-to-doctor (e-Sanjeevani) and patient-to-doctor (e-Sanjeevani OPD)
Launched in November 2019 as an important component of the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre programme, the e-Sanjeevani service reached a milestone of providing teleconsultation services to 10 crore beneficiaries in February 2023.
The highest number of teleconsultations, under the e-Sanjeevani programme, were from Andhra Pradesh (3,96,05,258 consultations), West Bengal (1,94,57,229), Tamil Nadu (1,81,64,302), Karnataka (1,34,06,758), Uttar Pradesh (91,88,184), Maharashtra (57,32,954) and Madhya Pradesh (50,26,377), according to information available in the Union minister's tweet.

The cloud-based eSanjeevani platform is available in two modes:
The e-Sanjeevani AB-HWC mode
Based on a hub-and-spoke model, this is an assisted telemedicine system that connects patients through health workers and medical officers in health and wellness centres to the doctors and specialists in hubs established in secondary- and tertiary-level health facilities or medical colleges.
The e-Sanjeevani OPD mode
This mode empowers citizens to access outpatient services in the confines of their homes through devices such as smartphones and laptops. e-Sanjeevani at a glance. e-Sanjeevani is a first-of-its-kind, government-owned telemedicine platform. Aligned with the government's Digital India vision, the platform has digitally brought healthcare services to the masses in rural areas and remote communities across the country.
