Dry day on 22 January: On the occasion of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, a few states have declared the date a dry day. All liquor shops will remain closed on Monday (January 22) in these states. Check out the list:

Dry day in Uttar Pradesh

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared January 22, Monday, a dry day for the state, along with a holiday in all educational institutions across UP, which houses the holy city of Ayodhya, where the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony for Ram temple will be held.

Dry day in Rajasthan

The Rajasthan government has announced a 'dry day' in the state on January 22. Eventually, over 7,000 liquor shops and bars in the state shall remain closed on the day, officials said.

"Due to the consecration ceremony of Lord Shri Ram in the temple being built at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, January 22, 2024, has been declared a dry day in the entire state. Liquor shops will remain closed throughout the day on this day. The closing time of liquor shops in Rajasthan is fixed at 8 p.m. In such a situation, liquor shops will be closed at 8 p.m. on January 21 and will open in the morning on January 23," the order stated.

Dry day in Assam

Joining the list, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a dry day on January 22.

Dry day in Chhattisgarh

The Vishnu Deo Sai-led Chhattisgarh government has also announced a dry day to mark the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Dry day in Uttarakhand

In view of the event, Uttarakhand will also observe a dry day.

Dry day in Madhya Pradesh

"We have decided that January 22 will be a dry day in the entire state. Shops selling any kind of alcohol or any other intoxicating substance would remain closed on that day," Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav told ANI.
