Digital Life Certificate Jeevan Pramaan: Here's how pensioners can generate it
Digital Life Certificate Jeevan Pramaan, recognized under the IT Act, is a facility provided by the government to help pensioners to save them from presenting themselves in person before the Pension Disbursing Officer.
Digital Life Certificate Jeevan Pramaan is a valid certificate and recognized under the IT Act. This facility has been provided by the government to help pensioners to save them from presenting themselves in person before the Pension Disbursing Officer. Jeevan Pramaan is actually a biometric-enabled Aadhaar-based Digital Life Certificate (DLC) for pensioners and it can be generated for individual pensioner using his/her Aadhaar number and biometrics.
According to Jeevan Pramaan website(jeevanpramaan.go.in), Pensioners of Central government, state government or any other government organization can take benefit of this facility, adding that "More than one crore families in India can be classified as pensioner families, where the pension disbursed by the various government bodies forms the basis for their income and sustainability. There are about 50 Lakh pensioners of the Central government and a similar number of the various state and UT governments and various other government agencies. This includes pensioners from the various public sector enterprises. In addition to this Army and Defence Personnel drawing pension exceeds 25 lakhs."
DLC does not have to be submitted physically to the pension disbursing agency (PDA) because it is available to the authority concerned digitally and is processed automatically. Notably, each DLC has a unique id termed as Pramaan-Id.
Pensioners interested to get this life certificate need to either personally present them before the PDA or get the life certificate issued by authority where they have served earlier and get it delivered to the disbursing agency. Since it often becomes a major hurdle in the transfer process of pension amount to the pensioner, causing a lot of hardship to aged pensioners, DLC aims to address this problem by digitizing the whole process of securing the life certificate. Here are the details related to eligibility, validity and other aspects you need to know about Jeevan Pramaan.
