Unlike petrol prices in India, the state-owned oil companies increased diesel prices gradually by 1 paisa each in various metro cities. Diesel was valued at Rs 62.89 per litre in New Delhi, Rs 65.58 per litre in Kolkata, Rs 66.97 per litre in Mumbai and Rs 66.31 per litre today. 
 
On March 4, diesel was available at Rs 62.88 per litre in New Delhi, Rs 65.57 per litre in Kolkata, Rs 66.96 per litre in Mumbai and Rs 66.3 per litre in Chennai. 
 
Diesel in other cities like Bangalore was valued at Rs 63.95 per litre, Bhopal at Rs 66.43 per litre, Bhubaneswar at Rs 67.46 per litre, Chandigarh at Rs 61.05 per litre, Dehradun at Rs 63.52 per litre, Gandhinagar at Rs 67.80 per litre, Hyderabad at Rs 68.33 per litre, Jaipur at Rs 67.36 per litre, Lucknow at Rs 63.36 per litre, Patna at Rs 67.47 per litre, Raipur at Rs 67.94 per litre and Srinagar at Rs 66.22 per litre.

Meantime, international crude oil prices saw uptick ahead of a meeting between OPEC and US shale firms in Houston, raising expectations that oil producers would discuss further how to clear a global oil glut. 
 
International benchmark Brent crude was up 44 cents, or 0.68%, at $64.81 a barrel by 0135 GMT. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose 41 cents, or 0.67%, to $61.66 per barrel. 
 
A Reuters report stated that Oil ministers from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and other global oil players are set to gather in Houston as CERAWeek, the largest energy industry conference, begins on Monday.
