Diesel prices in India today Unlike petrol prices, the state-owned Oil Companies decided to increase prices of diesel at much higher rate on Friday. The diesel prices in various state capital was raised in the range of 13 to 14 paisa each per litre, following the global crude prices trend which grew more than 1% so far in the day, boosted by Saudi plans for OPEC and Russian led production curbs introduced in 2017 to be extended into 2019 in order to tighten the market. Meanwhile, diesel prices surged by just 4 paisa each per litre in various state capital.

Diesel price in New Delhi: Diesel price in the national capital was up by 13 paisa and was available at Rs 63.01 per litre compared to Rs 62.88 per litre of the previous day. 


 
 Diesel price in Kolkata: Similarly, 13 paisa hike was made here as diesel was available at Rs 65.70 per litre against Rs 65.57 per litre of the previous day. 
 

 
Mumbai and Chennai saw much increase in diesel prices,  compared to other metro cities. 

Diesel price in Mumbai: Diesel here was increased by 14 paisa and was valued at Rs 67.10 per litre, versus previous day price of Rs 66.96 per litre. 
 

 
Diesel price in Chennai: Diesel price in Chennai saw a surge of 14 paisa, and was available at Rs 66.44 per litre from Rs 66.30 per litre of previous day. 
 

 
Diesel prices in other state capitals: The product in Bangalore was available at Rs 64.07 per litre, Bhopal at Rs 66.40 per litre, Bhubaneswar at Rs 67.59 per litre, Chandigarh at Rs 61.17 per litre, Dehradun at Rs  63.62 per litre, Gandhinagar at Rs 67.76 per litre, Hyderabad at Rs 68.46 per litre, Jaipur at Rs  67.33 per litre, Lucknow at Rs 63.46 per litre, Patna at Rs 67.59 per litre, Raipur at Rs 68.07 per litre and Srinagar at Rs 66.34 per litre. 
 

 
Moreover, the rise in oil prices defied global stock markets, which slumped on the back of worries about a trade stand-off between the United States and China. But gold, seen as a safehaven in times of economic turmoil, rallied to a two-week high on Friday, as per Reuters report. 

U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were at $64.99 a barrel at 0405 GMT, up 69 cents, or 1.1 percent, from their previous close. Brent crude futures were at $69.54 per barrel, up 63 cents, or 0.9 percent. 

For the week, Brent was set for a gain of about 5 percent, its strongest showing since July last year, while WTI was up about 4.3 percent.
