International Flights to and from India: DGCA extends ban on scheduled commercial flights till February 28 amid surging Covid-19 cases; cargo operations exempted
Amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country, the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has once again decided to extend the ban on international flights. This time, the ban has been extended till February 28, 2022.

The circular from the DGCA further informed that there will be no restriction on cargo operations. However, the international flights under the Air Bubble Agreement will not be affected.
As mentioned earlier, according to the DGCA, this restriction will not apply to those international airlines and flights, which are specifically approved by the DGCA. However, international scheduled flights may be permitted on a case-to-case basis on selected routes by the competent authority. At present, India has entered into Air Bubble Agreements with many countries. It allows citizens of both countries to travel in either direction. Along with this, cargo flights will also continue.
On the COVID-19 frontier, India has recorded, 2,82,970 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, as per the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). Also, 8,961 total Omicron cases have been detected so far with an increase of 0.79 per cent since yesterday.
