Power demand in Delhi today, on May 22, peaked at a record level amid rising temperatures.  According to the data received by the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) at 3:52 PM, the peak power demand reached an all-time high of 8000 MW, making it the highest ever in the history of the national capital.

Yesterday, on May 21, Delhi already broke the record for the highest-ever power demand at 7717 MW, which again got broken today.

On Monday, May 20, SLDC mentioned in its report that Delhi already peaked in power demand, counting up to 7,572 MW in the afternoon, which was the highest ever recorded in May, breaking the previous year's record of power demand at 7438 MW. 

Last year, the peak power demand was recorded at 7438 MW on August 22.

This year in April, Delhi's maximum electricity consumption ranged between 3,809 MW and 5,447 MW, compared to the peak power consumption, which ranged from 3,388 MW to 5,422 MW, in April 2023.
