Air quality in Delhi was in 'Severe' category with an overall AQI of 421. The Palam observatory near the Indira Gandhi International Airport recorded a visibility level of 50 metres.
The Delhi International Airport Limited tweeted that low-visibility procedures were in progress at the IGI airport. Passengers have been advised to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information.

Delhi: Trains Running Late Due To Fog
More than 20 trains were delayed by an hour to 10 hours due to the foggy weather, a Northern Railways spokesperson said. According to news agency ANI, Gorakhpur-Bathinda Gorakhdham Express, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus- Amritsar Express, Pratapgarh-Delhi Padmavat Express, and Dr Ambedkar Nagar- Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Malwa Superfast Express were running late by up to 2 hours.
While Barauni-New Delhi Clone Special, Katihar-Amritsar Express, Visakhapatnam-New Delhi Andhra Pradesh Express, and Jabalpur-Hazrat Nizamuddin Gondwana Express were running late by 3 hours.
Darbhanga-New Delhi Clone Special, Gaya-New Delhi Mahabodhi Express, and Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express, were late by 4 hours. Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express, Azamgarh-Delhi Kaifiyaat Express, Kamakhya-Delhi Brahmaputra Mail, and Jaynagar-Amritsar Clone Special were also running late by 6 hours.
Darbhanga-New Delhi Bihar Samapark Kranti Express, Rewa -Anand Vihar Terminal Superfast Express, Prayagraj-New Delhi Express, Rajendra Nagar Terminal- New Delhi Sampoorna Kranti Express, Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, Ghazipur City-Anand Vihar Terminal Suhaildev Express, Rajgir-New Delhi Sharmjeevi Superfast Express, Hyderbad-Hazrat Nizamuddin Dakshin Express, MGR Chennai Central -New Delhi Grand Trunk Express, and Amritsar-Bilaspur Chhattisgarh Express are late by 1.15, 7, 2.45, 2.30, 10, 6.30, 1.45, 2.30, 3.30, 8.30 hours, respectively.
According to the weather office, very dense fog is when visibility is between 0 and 50 metres, between 51 and 200 metres is dense, between 201 and 500 metres moderate, and between 501 and 1,000 metres shallow.

A layer of dense to very dense fog extended from Punjab to Bihar across Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi Temperature Today
Delhi's primary weather station, the Safdarjung observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 5.8 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in the capital is likely to rise to 9 degrees Celsius on Thursday amid cloudy weather and light rain.
Clouds trap the heat, which gets through during the day, keeping the night time temperatures above normal. However, cloudy weather reduces daytime temperature by preventing exposure to the Sun.

Cold wave conditions are predicted to return to the plains of northwest India after the WD retreats and frosty northwesterly winds start blowing from the snow-covered mountains.
Rain, Snow Likely In J&K
Meanwhile, widespread light to moderate rain and snow is likely to happen during the next 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir. The UT witnessed cloudy weather with light rain and snow during the last 24 hours.
"Widespread light to moderate rain/snow is likely to occur in J&K during the next 24 hours," an official of the Meteorological (MeT) department told IANS.
Srinagar had 3.5, Pahalgam minus 0.3 and Gulmarg minus 3 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature. In Ladakh region, Kargil had minus 7.4 and Leh minus 7.2 as the minimum temperature. Jammu had 8, Katra 10.1, Batote 6.6, Banihal 4.9 and Bhaderwah also 6.6 as the minimum temperature.
