Delhi School Winter Vacation News Today: Delhi Government has ordered on Sunday that all government, government-aided and recognised private schools will reopen from Monday, January 15, for all classes — including Nursery, Kinder Garten (KG) and primary classes. However, it has guided that, keeping in mind the prevailing foggy conditions, no school (including double shift schools) will start before 9 a.m. and have classes beyond 5 p.m. till further directions.

The Delhi Government circular said, "...it is directed that all students of Government, Government Aided and Recognised Private Schools shall join back classes in physical mode at their respective schools with effect from 15/01/2024 (Monday). This includes Nursery, KG and Primary classes as well."

"However, taking precaution in view of the prevailing foggy conditions, no school(including double shift schools) will start before 9 a.m. and have classes beyond 5 p.m. till further directions," the circular further added.

The circular has directed that all teaching and non teaching staff shall report for duty as usual on Monday.

The head of schools have been asked to inform all students, parents and staff on Sunday itself through mass SMS facility, phone calls, and other suitable means of communication.

Delhi faces intense cold weather

The national capital remained in the grip of severe cold weather on Sunday, with the minimum temperature dropping to 3.5 degrees Celsius – the coldest temperature this winter – and a thick layer of fog evident in various parts of the city.

The minimum temperature in Delhi on Sunday was four degrees below the season's normal. 

The IMD has forecast exceptionally dense fog and cold wave conditions in the national capital for the next two days.

The meteorological service predicted severe fog in the city till January 20.

Winter vacation in municipal schools was previously extended from January 6 to January 12 for primary children due to cold wave conditions.
