Delhi NCR school closed news: Schools shut in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida as air quality deteriorates due to pollution
School closed news, Delhi, NCR: Owing to rising air pollution in Delhi NCR, schools in Noida and Greater Noida have already been asked to hold online classes.
School closed news: Due to the persistent rise in air pollution and worsening of AQI, which is mostly caused by the high load of smoke from stubble burning in neighbouring Punjab and Haryana, the national capital of Delhi continues to be shrouded in a deadly haze. Delhi and its neighbouring regions like Noida, Faridabad, Gurugram and others are facing issues as a thick layer of smog covered the Delhi-NCR sky. There have been restrictions imposed by the government on the schools as the AQI plunged to 'severe' category. Resultantly, the Supreme Court decided on Friday to review a plea calling for immediate action in relation to Delhi's air pollution on November 10.
Delhi schools closed
As the national capital's air quality deteriorates, primary schools in Delhi will remain closed starting on Saturday i.e November 5. Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, announced the decision and stated that schools wouldn't reopen until the air quality improved. Additionally, the Chief Minister stated that outdoor sports activities above class 5 students in schools will also remain suspended. Meanwhile, update is awaited for colleges.
However, the overall Air Quality Index in Delhi further deteriorated and surged to 458, as per the SAFAR data. The PM 2.5 and PM 10 concentration stood at 458 and 433, respectively, both under the same `Severe` category, according to the SAFAR data, as per IANS report.
Noida, Greater Noida schools closed
Owing to rising air pollution in Delhi NCR, schools in Noida and Greater Noida have already been asked to hold online classes. According to an order issued by the authority, all schools in Noida and Greater Noida will hold online classes till November 8. The decree further declared that all outdoor activities, including sports and meetings, will remain totally prohibited in all schools.
According to an IANS report, Delhi`s neighbouring city- NOIDA's air quality index (AQI) stood at 498 today under the 'severe' category with PM 2.5 concentration at 498 and the PM 10 concentration at 397.
The 'severe' category of air quality calls for health warnings of emergency conditions and even grave risks on the respiratory system loom large on the general public.
SAFAR urges sensitive individuals to stay inside and to limit their indoor activity, while asthmatics should keep a relief kit ready as long as the air quality remains in the severe category.
