Delhi-NCR gets another airport in Hindon; this is when first flight operation will begin
The first flight will take off from this airport for Pithoragarh on Friday, thereby facilitating the residents of Delhi-NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh to take flights for destinations including Shimla, Faizabad, Nashik and Hubli.
The most-awaited news for flyers in Delhi-NCR has come to reality now, as another airport at Hindon is all set to commence from tomorrow ie, October 11. The first flight will take off from this airport for Pithoragarh on Friday, thereby facilitating the residents of Delhi-NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh to take flights for destinations including Shimla, Faizabad, Nashik and Hubli. This will also decongest Delhi airport, as people from Western UP will have the option to board an aircraft with 80 passengers.
The terminal will have a capacity of 300 passengers at a time, and for security purpose, more than 50 policemen have been deployed after providing them with special training. These sleuths have undergone training as per the guidelines of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
Heritage Aviation will operate the first flight to Pithoragarh, where a 9-passenger plane will fly, according to the company's CEO Rohit Mathur. The fare from Hindon Airport to Pithoragarh is Rs 2500 per passenger.
Heritage plans will have six flights a week on Hindon-Pithoragarh sector. The airline had won bids to operate two daily flights on this sector and may do so when the second aircraft joins the fleet in a month.
Star Air service will, however, start regular flights between Hubali in Karnataka and Ghaziabad from November 6. Earlier, the airline had announced that it will operate a 50-seater Embraer EMB-145 aircraft every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, and will leave Hubli at 1.05pm and reach Hindon by 3.45pm.
