Delhi Metro trains are all set to make a great technology leap. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is  all set to go driverless in the proposed Metro extensions  between Noida Electronic City - Sahibabad and Vaishali - Mohan Nagar. According to the recently submitted detailed Phase  III report, these trains with no drivers will be operated by the automated control room using the computerized supervision and projection system . Besides, electronic ticketing systems are  also anticipated to get installed for this corridor.

With a cost of  Rs 2,117 crore,  the corridor between Vaishali and Mohan Nagar, an extension of the already existing Anand Vihar-Vaishali route, will run into 5.06 km, crossing the five stations including Vaishali, Prahladgarhi, Vasundhara Sector 14, Sahibabad and Mohan Nagar.

At the same time, the  corridor between Noida Electronic City and Sahibabad  will be 5.11 km long, with four elevated stations including Vaishali, Prahladgarhi, Vasundhara Sector 14, Sahibabad and Mohan Nagar. Made with cost of Rs 1,173 crore,  it will mainly aid  the commuters from Ghaziabad city, Rajendra Nagar, Sahibabad, Vasundhara and Indirapuram en route to Noida.

Intersecting at Sahibabad as the main junction, the Sahibabad Metro station will also be an interchange for commuters heading from Noida to Mohan Nagar and for those going towards Rithala via Dilshad Garden using the Red Line.

The technology advancement of these driverless trains are an outcome of an aspiring project of the DMRC, with an intention to make both the corridors fully automatic.
