Delhi Metro records highest-ever daily ridership of 77.48 lakh on August 20

The Delhi Metro achieved a significant milestone on August 20, registering its highest-ever daily ridership with an impressive 77.48 lakh passenger journeys. This marks a new record for the urban transportation system, surpassing its previous peak of 72.38 lakh journeys set on August 13, 2023.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) shared the news on Wednesday through a post on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the achievement. The latest data shows that on August 20, a total of 77,48,838 passengers used the metro network, eclipsing earlier records such as 71.09 lakh on February 13 and 71.07 lakh on August 12.

The count of daily passenger journeys, or line utilisation, is determined by the number of corridors passengers traverse to reach their destinations. The August 20 milestone was managed effectively, with additional trains deployed to ensure smooth passenger movement, according to the DMRC.

As of now, the Delhi Metro network spans nearly 393 kilometers, encompassing 2,888 stations, including those on the Noida-Greater Noida Metro Corridor and Rapid Metro in Gurugram.
