Delhi MCD Elections Date 2022 news: The State election commission announced the dates for Delhi Municipal Corporation elections today at a press conference at 4pm in New Delhi. With the announcement of election schedule for Delhi MCD Elections 2022, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect.

The Delhi MCD Elections will be held on 4th December, 2022 (Sunday).

The result of the Delhi MCD Elections will be announced on 7th December (Wednesday).

MCD Elections 2022 - Total Seats

SC - 42 seats (Women-21, Male-21)

Men - 104 seats

Women - 104 seats 

The polls were originally scheduled to be held in the first half of 2022. However, the announcement of dates was postponed due to unification exercise by the Central government which once again unified all three erstwhile municipal corporations into the MCD. 

The three major contestants -- the BJP, the AAP and the Congress -- have started working on their strategies and candidate selection for the polls to 250 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Of the 250 wards, there are many that were earlier reserved for women and Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. Delimitation has also affected the voter composition of wards.

MCD Elections 2017

In the civic body polls in 2017, the BJP had won 281 of the 270 wards. No polling could be held on two seats due to death of candidates. The AAP had won 48 wards, while the Congress managed to win 27 wards.

Delhi BJP not to repeat outgoing councilors on 60-70% seats

The Delhi BJP on Friday hinted at not repeating its outgoing councilors on at least 60-70 per cent of the wards even as the Congress received over 1,000 applications from ticket seekers.

Several Delhi BJP leaders said the reports that the party will replace all its sitting councilors with new faces was technically incorrect.
