The Delhi government on Thursday announced that it will provide an option to give up subsidies on the electricity bills. The new will be implemented from October 1, 2022. Only those consumers will provide subsidy on electricity who opt for the scheme, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on May 5, 2022.

"The Delhi government will now ask people whether they want to avail subsidy on electricity. From October 1, only those consumers who opt for it will be provided the subsidy," he said during an online briefing, as per PTI reported.

At present, the Delhi consumers are getting "zero" power bills i.e, free electricity up to 200 units and a subsidy of Rs 800 on consuming 201 to 400 units of power per month. The Subsidy is 50% on consumption from 200 to 400 units.

Additionally, the Kejriwal government has also approved a start-up policy that provides financial and procedural help to the youth entrepreneurs and business leaders of the national capital.

"Delhi Govt is committed towards making Delhi into a startup capital of India. Hon'ble CM Shri @ArvindKejriwal launching the ambitious Delhi Startup Policy," CMO Delhi tweeted.

"Creating entrepreneurs and business leaders out of our youth is a subject very close to my heart. Our youth has tremendous potential. Given right opportunities, they can compete wid anyone in the world. Not just India, we will see Delhi become the startup destination of the world," CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.
