Delhi flood alert! Yamuna breaches danger mark; Indian Railways trains schedule changed
On Tuesday night, the water level in the Yamuna reached 206.40 meters which is more than a metre above the danger mark of 204.83 metres, according to railway official.
Delhi flood alert: As water level in the Yamuna river crossed the danger mark, Indian Railways decided to stop running trains on the old British era iron bridge, and diverted the routes of all trains going through the Old Yamuna Bridge (known as Loha Pul). On Tuesday night, the water level in the Yamuna reached 206.40 meters which is more than a metre above the danger mark of 204.83 metres, according to railway official.
Notably, most of the trains going towards east from Old Delhi pass through this bridge, but now these trains are being run through New Delhi Railway station.
Route of these trains changed
According to reports, Train No. 18101 Tata Nagar-Jammu Tawi Muri Express and Train No. 15483 Sikkim Mahananda Express running between Alipurdwar and Delhi Junction were brought to Old Delhi Railway Station through Sahibabad and New Delhi.
Train No. 19032 Yoga Express running between Haridwar and Ahmedabad, Express train ( )running between Bareilly and Old Delhi, Train No. 14043 Garhwal Express coming from Kotdwar to Old Delhi, 64609 EMU from Ghaziabad to New Delhi, Train No. 14674 Shaheed Express running from Amritsar to Jai Nagar, Train No. 14218 Unchahar Express running between Chandigarh and Prayag, while train No 14724 Kalindi Express running between Kanpur and Bhiwani will run through Sahibabad from New Delhi.

Notably, Old Yamuna Bridge is a road-cum-rail bridge on the Delhi-Howrah line that was built over 150 years ago. It serves as a major connectivity link between Delhi and the neighbouring states. The highest water level recorded at Old Yamuna Bridge was 207.49 metres in 1978. It was 207.11 metres in 2010 and 207.32 metres in 2013, said an IANS report, citing the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.
