Tremors were felt in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and surrounding areas of the national capital region, today on Monday afternoon.

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) shared on X(formerly Twitter) that an earthquake of 5.6 magnitude hit west Nepal at 4:16 PM IST on November 6. The earthquake had a depth of 10 km located at a latitude of 28.89 and a longitude of 82.36. The epicentre of the earthquake was 233 km north of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. 

 This is the second earthquake in Nepal which is above 5.5 magnitude in the last seven days. Last Friday night, on November 3, Nepal was hit with an earthquake of a magnitude of 6.4 which killed at least 157 people and injured more than 160.

Nepal lies in seismic zones IV and V which is the most active tectonic zones of the world making the region extremely vulnerable to earthquakes.
