Cyclone Tauktae LIVE tracking apps list: How to check news, updates and more on your smartphone

Cyclone Taukate is likely to intensify in the coming days. According to the Cyclone Warning Division of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) the Arabian sea depression is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm namely cyclone Tauktae from May 16 till May 19.

The storm is said to reach close to the Gujarat coast by Monday evening. While it will cross as a very severe cyclonic storm between Porbandar and Mahuva in the Bhavnagar district of Gujarat sometime during the morning hours of May 18, as per IMD.

Several districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Alappuzha and Idukki have been put on high alert. The intensity of rain is said to increase in Maharashtra by Sunday.  

The SCS “Tauktae” intensified into a VSCS, lay centred at 0230 hrs IST of 16th May about 150 km southwest of Panjim-Goa, 490 km south of Mumbai, 730 km SSWest of Veraval (Gujarat). cross Gujarat coast between Porbandar & Mahuva (Bhavnagar district) around 18th May early morning.

UMANG app

UMANG app is available on both iOS and Android mobile phones. The app will allow the users to track the speed and movement of the Tauktae cyclone.

As we all know official government websites are the most reliable sources to get any kind of information. Therefore, to track cyclone Tauktae, mausam.imd.gov.in can be used. The Ministry of Earth Sciences has developed the website. To track the movement of the cyclone you will have to type mausam.imd.gov.in on Google search and then from the website click on the cyclone option. Next tap on track cyclone disturbance to know the updates.
