Cyclone Fani: How you can cancel or change SpiceJet, Indigo, GoAir, Air India and Vistara tickets
Following which, airliners like SpiceJet, Indigo, Air India, GoAir and Vistara have been directing passengers about their cancelled flights via twitter account. Some are even offering full waiver on cancellation charges.
Extremely severe cyclonic storm hit Odisha this morning, leading to heaving rain and thunderstorm in most regions of the state. Many companies, OMCs, government and railways are working together for evacuation and saving lives in stressed regions of Odisha, Kolkata and Andhra Pradesh. Many trains have already been cancelled. Not only that, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have cancelled all flights operating to or from Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar for at least midnight of May 03. Apart from this, flights operating from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata have been cancelled between 9.30 pm on May 03 to 6.00 pm next day. Following which, airliners like SpiceJet, Indigo, Air India, GoAir and Vistara have been directing passengers about their cancelled flights via Twitter accounts. Some are even offering full waiver on cancellation charges. It needs to be noted that, airlines reserve the right to cancel their flights. This comes due to various reasons such as severe weather conditions, shortage of flights, cash crunch and lessor crews. Here’s how you can cancel or change your flight tickets:
Air India:
The national carrier has cancelled or rescheduled its operations of May 04, 2019 from Kolkata and other eastern region stations, due to severe cyclonic storm Fani. Applicable penalties of reissuance, date of change, no show, cancellation and refund charges are waived off on all tickets for travel to and from Kolkata from May 03 til May 05, 2019.

If a passenger does not wish to travel, then you can cancel your booking at least 12 hours prior to scheduled departure of the flight. Refund will be made to you subject to applicable cancellation charges.
IndiGo:
IndiGo via its Twitter account said, “Due to cyclone Fani, we’re offering change & cancellation fee waiver for the passengers travelling to/fro Bhubaneswar, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam for travel between May 02 to May 05, 2019.”

You can cancel the ticket online and get refunded after the applicable cancellation charges are incurred. Changes or cancellations to booking must be made at least.
- 2 hrs prior for domestic flights.
- 4 hrs prior for international flights.
Refund for cancelled tickets will be processed after the deduction of appropriate cancellation fees, which may take up to 7 working days.
SpiceJet:
The airline has given full waiver on cancellation and date change charges for travel to and from Jharsuguda, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam between May 03 to May 05. If there is any change in fare difference, it will be applicable for change in date as well.

At SpiceJet, changes and cancellations to flights can be done up to 2 hour prior to the scheduled departure time for Domestic flights, and up to 4 hours prior to departure for International and Interline flights. All promo/sale fares are restrictive fares and are refundable (only statutory taxes ).
If you wish to change any of the details of your booking e.g. date and time or cancellation of your booking, you must inform it at least 2 hours prior to scheduled departure of your flight.
Any difference in fare will be charged additionally as applicable. Changes/ Cancellation to your booking can be done at our Reservations or at any of our SpiceJet's Airport Sale Centers or online through the SpiceJet site.
GoAir:
The airline said, “We are waiving cancellation and rescheduling fees from Bhubaneswar, Kolkata and Ranchi flights for travel between May 02 to May 05. Flights must be re-booked within 7 days of scheduled departure.”

The onus for cancelling the PNR within the stipulated time rests with the Customers and if necessary should be done by visiting our Airport ticketing counter.
Cancellations to bookings less than 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure time will be treated as no show Customers.
Vistara:
The airline says, “Please note updated flight cancellations for Bhubaneswar(BBI) and Kolkata(CCU). Certain CCU flights previously cancelled have been re-instated basis revised #DGCA advisory. We will try to operate special flights to clear backlog if required, once airports re-open.”

It added, “#Update. We're experiencing high call volumes at our contact center due to Cyclonic movement Fani. Customers are requested to check flight status by visiting http://www.airvistara.com or SMS UK<flight no> to 9289228888. Thank you.”
Vistara has also waived change, cancel and no-show fees for all customers. Additionally, the airline will also accommodate who are stuck on alternate flights basis availability for no additional fares once the airport re-opens.
Cancellation and change only can be done within 24 hours of booking. (For instance, for bookings made on Monday, you will be able to cancel/change the same without any fee till Tuesday midnight).
Bookings must be made at least 7 days in advance.
Cancellation and change can only be done by calling the Vistara Customer Service Center on +91 9289228888. Refund of fares will be done accordingly.
The cyclone was formed on the Bay of Bengal. The storm is expected to sustain maximum wind of speed 170-180 Kmph gusting to 200 Kmph.
