COVID cases once again have been on the rise across the country. The health ministry and the Prime Minister's office have held several meetings with the representatives of the states to review the status of the public health response to the pandemic.
Amid the growing cases of COVID-19, the government has advised people to take all the necessary measures like covering their faces with a mask while in public places, using sanitisers, and washing hands frequently. While taking precautions is important, here is what else you need to know and execute -
COVID test charges
It has been strictly advised by health professionals that in case someone develops any symptoms like fever or cough, then he or she should get tested at the earliest. It is best to go for the RT-PCR test, however, one can also go for rapid antigen-antibody tests.
The charge for an RT-PCR test usually varies between Rs 500 and Rs 900 based on the lab and the duration within which the reports will be delivered. It usually takes 12 hours to 24 hours to get the rest reports.
The rapid antigen test and rapid antibody test are comparatively cheaper and faster too. The charge for both tests vary between Rs 450 and Rs 550 and the reports are available within 45 minutes.
Precautions to be taken if tested positive
The government advisory as well as the doctors suggested getting isolated once someone tests positive.
The affected individual should stay home for at least 5 -7 days as he or she is likely most infectious during these first 5 days. In case, the affected individual needs to come out of the room, then wearing a high-quality mask is recommended The affected individual and others in the house should wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
It has been also advised to use a separate bathroom in the home. Additionally, the affected person is also advised to use separate dishes, glasses, cups, and eating utensils and not share these with other members of the house.
Further, keep a close eye on the oxygen level of the body and measure your body temperature at regular intervals. It is advised to eat nutritious meals with protein-rich food and stay hydrated.
Moreover, never take any medicines or any anti-biotic without consulting the doctor.
