Covid 19 cases in India: India logged 6,050 fresh cases of coronavirus in 24 hours, the highest in 195 days. With this, the number of active cases increased to 28,303 on Friday. Also, the death toll has increased to 5,30,929. The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 3.32 per cent while the weekly positivity rate has been pegged at 2.89 per cent. The total tally of Covid cases stands at 4.47 crore (4,47,39,054), according to the health ministry.

The active cases comprise 0.06 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid recovery rate has been recorded at 98.75 per cent, according to the health ministry website.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has increased to 4,41,82,538, while the case fatality rate has been recorded at 1.19 per cent. According to the ministry's website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

Covid-19 in Uttar Pradesh 

Uttar Pradesh reported its first death due to Covid-19 this year. The state also reported 192 fresh Covid cases during the day while 68 patients recovered, including one in the state capital Lucknow. At present, there are 842 active Covid cases in the state.

An elderly woman, who had tested positive for Covid-19 on April 2, died during treatment on Thursday while 35 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in Lucknow. The state has reported 23,650 deaths till now.

 

Covid -19: Marks compulsory Puducherry 

The Puducherry administration on Friday made mask-wearing compulsory in the union territory with immediate effect owing to the rise in a number of Covid-19 cases.
District Collector E Vallavan said with the union territory currently witnessing a surge in coronavirus positive cases, the territorial administration has enforced with immediate effect a slew of precautionary measures "to minimise the risk of increase in transmission of Covid-19 in the coming days."
