COVID-19 restrictions to come into effect in Maharashtra from January 10: See what is allowed vs what is not
The Government of Maharashtra has issued an order on January 8, 2022 proposing certain restrictions across various sectors. The restrictions in Maharashtra will come into effect from January 10, 2022 as per the order.
COVID-19 Restrictions in Maharashtra: Due to the rising number of COVID-19 and Omicron cases in country, various state governments are imposing restrictions in order to contain the spread of the disease. The Department of Revenue and Forest, Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation, Government of Maharashtra has also issued an order on January 8, 2022 proposing certain restrictions across various sectors.

The restrictions in Maharashtra will come into effect from January 10, 2022 as per the order. The various restrictions imposed are as follows:
1) There should be no movement of people in groups of five or more from 5 AM to 11 PM. Furthermore, movement of people is restricted from 11 PM to 5 AM except for essential purposes.
2) No visitors are allowed in government offices except with explicit and written permission from Head Offices. Furthermore, online interactions through VC for citizens to be enabled by the Heads of Offices.
3) The order further states that there should be rationalisation of employees present during office hours through work from home as well as staggering of working hours depending upon the requirement.
4) In case of private offices, It has been advised that not more than 50 per cent of regular attendance should be reached. The office managements should rationalise the number of employees through work from home and staggering working hours.
5) Also, fully vaccinated employees should be allowed to attend offices.
6) The marriage ceremonies and social, religious, cultural and political gatherings can take place with a maximum number of 50 people. In case of funerals and last rites, a maximum number of 20 people have been allowed
7) It has to be noted that all the schools, colleges and coaching classes in the state should remain closed till February 15, 2022.
8) The swimming pools, gyms, SPAs, well centres and others will remain closed till further notice.
9) The shopping malls, market complexes are allowed to function with 50 per cent capacity.
10) The cinema halls and theatres are allowed to function with 50 per cent capcity.
India reported 1,59,632 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the daily positivity rate in the country to 10.21 per cent, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday. With this, the COVID-19 tally in the country has risen to 35,528,004.
