The data also stated that India achieved a major landmark in COVID-19 vaccination as the country administered 93.17 crore vaccinations under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive. At present, India's active caseload stands at 2,40,221 which is the lowest in 205 days. The active caseload accounts for 0.71 per cent which is less than 1 per cent of the total cases which is the lowest since March 2020.

As the festive season is approaching, the people must abide by the COVID-19 SOPs to prevent the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases. Last week, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla has written to the Chief Secretaries of all the states and union territories on COVID-19 safe behaviour during the upcoming festivals. In his letter, Bhalla wrote, "There should be focus on the five-fold strategy, i.e., Test-Track-Treat-Vaccination and adherence to COVID Appropriate Behaviour to safely navigate through the festive season to avoid the possibility of surge in COVID-19 cases."

Also, the Union Home Ministry has also issued a notification to the states and the union territories instructing them to implement 'Prompt and Effective Measures' specified in a September 21 advisory issued in view of festivals.

It must be noted that the current recovery rate of the country is 97.96 per cent, which is the highest since March 2020. India recorded 24,963 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,32,25,221.

As per an ANI report, the Joint Health Secretary of Union Ministry of Health while addressing a health briefing said, "We need to be watchful for the months of October, November and December."

He also advised to attend Durga Puja and Ram Leela virtually and to meet loved ones in Diwali online to avoid the resurgence of COVID-19 cases.
