The amount was to be determined by the National Authority under the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Supreme Court earlier mentioned.
Supreme Court has granted 4-week more time to the Central Government to frame the ex-gratia payment scheme. This ex-gratia payment scheme will be given to the families of those who have died due to COVID.
The Supreme Court on June 30 passed a judgement on the plea seeking ex gratia compensation of Rs 4 lakh to families of those who have lost the family member due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Justice Ashok Bhushan led bench has directed the Centre to frame guidelines to pay ex gratia to families of those who have died due to the COVID-19.
Supreme Court dismissed the Centre's plea, which stated that no such ex-gratia amount can be paid.
The amount was to be determined by the National Authority under the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Supreme Court earlier mentioned.
The Supreme Court had earlier directed the National Authority to decide the reasonable amount.
