Coronavirus Latest News: India reports 168,063 new COVID-19 infections, 4,461 cases of Omicron variant

India reported 168,063 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, less than the figure of 179,723 the previous day, the health ministry said. Deaths rose by 277 to 484,213, while the tally of infections reached 35.88 million.

Single-day rise of 1,68,063 new COVID-19 infections, 277 fatalities push India's tally of cases to 3,58,75,790, death toll to 4,84,213, as per the government. 

4,461 cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus detected across 28 states, UTs so far, said the Union Health Ministry.

152.89 cr vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive. Active cases stand at 2.29%, and the recovery rate is currently at 96.36%.

69,959 recoveries in the last 24 hours increase total recoveries to 3,45,70,131, and 1,68,063 new cases in the last 24 hours

Daily positivity rate stands at 10.64%, and the weekly positivity rate stands at 8.85%. Over 69.31 cr total tests have been conducted so far.

On Monday, India's active caseload stands at 7,23,619. 151.94 cr vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
